Random Thoughts…

I love writing blogs filled with…

Anyone watch Big Brother this season?….

Looks like Flight of the Conchords will end after season 2. They guys say it’s too difficult to come up with songs on a weekly basis. Let them take as much time as they need. Season 1 was hilarious…

David Duchovny has a sexual addiction? Any one paying attention would know that. Both his characters from series TV, Fox Mulder and Hank Moody have been sex addicts. No surprise that art mirrors reality…

America’s Got Talent proves at least 50% of the time that America DOESN’T have talent…

Anyone watch 90210?…

NBC had so many ads during the Olympics for Kath and Kim and show so many scenes without a single laugh in them, that I’m convinced they did more harm then good. Everyone knows about the show but no one is gonna watch it…

Any one watch the season premier of Deal or No Deal? That’s the one where they told us that someone was gonna win one million dollars. If I know the outcome of a game, it’s not really likely that I would suck an hour out of my life to watch the outcome of a game…

America's Got Kiddie Talent

AGT.jpg

America’s Got Talent sucks on so many different levels.

The judges irritate me. The host irritates me. The audience irritates me.

But the worst thing they do is string small children along like they have a real shot at winning the one million dollar prize and the contract to work in Vegas when in reality they don’t have a chance.

Not even close.

They currently have two small children in the semi-finals. A boy and a girl. The girl is around four and sings in a cute little voice. The type of voice you would hear at a holiday dinner after the pie was served and the kid was forced by Mommy to perform like a trained monkey.

The little boy is described by the producers of this show as “autistic”.

I’m sure his Vegas act will put Blue Man Group out of business.

In all honesty this just seems cruel. Why dangle the carrot in front of these children and their parents when they have no chance of winning?

I hope they get voted off soon. The longer that American thinks this is cute, the bigger the hurt will be when they finally go.

It’s not cute. It’s irritating.

Phelps to bring his Bling to MTV

US Olympian Michael Phelps has just been announced as a presenter for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Phelps should have no problem mixing in with the music crowd. He’s got more bling than all of them put together.

The 2008 MTV VMA Awards airs live Sunday September 7th, 9PM ET.

Olympic Fever

It has certainly not been without controversy.

There’s the human rights angle.

NBC says it’s “LIVE” when it’s live in tape.

You can turn on the internet and see results of what won’t be broadcast on the west coast of the United State for hours.

There was a little Chinese girl in the spectacular Opening Ceremony who was replaced at the last minute by a more attractive Chinese girl. Welcome to Show Biz!

There are the occasional nasty little stories of doping. But then there are the athletes.

And isn’t that what these Olympics are really about.

Watching Michael Phelps and the other swimmers has been breathtaking.

Watching the Chinese gymnasts and divers has been incredible.

The NBC coverage has been bit American bent, but when you pay billions of dollars to broadcast these games to American what can you expect.

Sorry to cut it short, but I’m back to The Games.

Fake Reality Hits Comedy Central

images-2.jpg

I love reality shows (and also hate them).

And I love comedy.

Check out Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back, a funny improvised/scripted attempt to skewer everything we both love and hate about reality shows. A company of very talented, likable, comics portray the contestants in a weekly battle. One weeks it’s a parody of American Gladiators and another weeks it’s The Biggest Loser they are making fun of.

But just like any reality show, each week someone bites the dust and talks about it in the confessional with sad music playing while we watch ‘their journey’.

Hosted by Michael Ian Black (Stella, Ed) this one is worth catching.
